What is a lump-sum withdrawal payment?


This procedure will, after the person leaves Japan, refund a portion of the payments into the Employees’ Pension Insurance during the period when a foreign national worked in Japan.

The following two types of lump-sum withdrawal payments exist.

Pension type Applicable persons Examples
1.National Pension Insurance Persons who paid the insurance premiums themselves 1.Overseas students (visa status: Student)
2.Freelance workers (visa status: Engineer, Specialist in Humanities/International Services) ...etc.            
2.Employees’ Pension Insurance Persons who had the insurance premiums withheld from their paychecks 1.Company employees (visa status: Engineer, Specialist in Humanities/International Services)
2.Technical intern (visa status: Technical Intern Training
3.Skilled worker (visa status: Specified Skilled Worker) ...etc.

※The amount of the Employees’ Pension Insurance lump-sum withdrawal payment is generally larger.

※ACROSEED handles lump-sum withdrawal payment requests for (2) Employees’ Pension Insurance only. It does not handle requests for (1) National Pension Insurance.
